5 Ways to Welcome Autumn in Oro Valley

Explore Five Events That Make Up the Distinct Charm for Which Oro Valley Is Known.

Surrounded by the majestic beauty of the Santa Catalina and Tortolita Mountains only a few miles north of Tucson, Oro Valley is known as a vibrant, family-friendly community. As autumn brings fresh air to this hidden gem, special events celebrate the local culture.

Taste of Oro Valley at Steam Pump Ranch

Oro Valley has a plethora of fabulous local restaurants, and the Taste of Oro Valley tailgate event showcases tastings from many of these delicious establishments. Hosted by The Oro Valley Rotary Foundation at the historic Steam Pump Ranch, the night will also include drinks, a raffle, and a screening of Arizona’s 1997 NCAA men’s basketball championship.

November 8th from 4-8 PM. Tickets are required for $50 each.

Fall Market at Steam Pump Ranch

The celebration of Oro Valley’s local culinary delights continues at Steam Pump Ranch with its fall market each Saturday. Stroll through the historic grounds of the ranch while buying seasonal fruits, vegetables, and ranch-fed beef, pork, and farm-fresh eggs. Face masks are required, and social distancing and limited interaction are encouraged.

Every Saturday from 9 AM to 1 PM.

Stroll N’ Shop at Tohono Chul

Declared One of the World’s Ten Best Botanical Gardens' by Travel + Leisure Magazine, Tohono Chul is an Oro Valley must-visit for anyone at any time of the year. The Stroll N’Shop event showcases local vendors on these extraordinary grounds. While doing some early holiday shopping, tuck into ricotta toast and chicken chile Relleno at the bistro. See their latest art exhibit celebrating color, and come home with a Cassia plant from the retail greenhouse to attract butterflies in your garden.

October 22-25 from 9 AM to 4 PM. Tickets reserved online.

Gaslight Music Hall Drive-in Concert Series

Live entertainment has slowed globally, but at the Gaslight Music Hall, life finds a way. Known for its family-friendly concerts and quality entertainment, the music hall will announce new shows every week on its website. Upcoming fun, colorful events include Rockin’ the Night Away with Alex Mack, Divas Fabulous 50s - Desert Divas, and The Music of Tom Jones & Engelbert Humperdinck. Pull up your car with your loved ones, and add much-needed community spirit to your autumn.

Honey Bee Canyon Park

We would be remiss not to mention at least one activity celebrating the extraordinary nature of Oro Valley. Whereas most of the nation prepares for cold, dreary weather with the coming of fall, Arizona remains blue-skied and sunny. Enjoy the cool air and early sunsets on this gentle hike. Highlights include petroglyphs, a historic rock dam, and magnificent views of the surrounding Sonoran Desert.

Open every day from 6 AM to 10 PM.
